problems with G2 legend need some help
Guys, i've been a happy Legend owner for 10 years now. Recently i've had some problems with the car that is not major but just more of a nag.

i have an automatic G2 legend.... two problems, woudl appreciate some input thanks guys:

1. the temperature meter would go up and hit almost max sometimes but immediately drops down to mid level when it hits max and moves up and down irregularly...

2. sometimes on a cold start the engine starts off at about 15000rpm but it keeps going up not down and when i put a brake on when driving , the engine appears to be @ a higher rpm than it normally does, about 11000rpm on a stopped position. i could feel the brakes trying to hold it down as it usually spins at about 6000rpm when @ a full stop. also sometimes when i put the car back to P, or off of a cold start, the engine would rev up and down really fast like someone's stepping on the throttle and releasing it really fast but its at a parked or neutral position and foot off the pedal.

i recently put in a new radiator, changed transmission oil, and the driving belts are changed about 2 years ago.

any input would be appreciated, thanks.

I could be wrong but from what I read on this forum its sounds like you could have some air in your system from when the the radiator was replaced. I'll let the pros on here answer question but that could be your problem.

#2.I have had this problem, G1 and G2 owners have asked this question to me. The solution has been that there were air in the radiator or there was not enough antifreeze. Check all hoses, reserve bottle and pour some antifreeze into your radiator.
good luck

The temp spikes that you are see maybe because of air trapped in the cooling system. You need to bleed the air out of the system. When they replaced your radiator, maybe they did not bleed the air properly which is still causing the temp spikes. Search on this forum on how to bleed air or look in your owners manual.

I don't quite understand your second question. Typically when you do a cold start, the engine revs close to 1500 rpm and as it heats up the rpms drop down. I typically let the car heat up for 2/3 minutes before I drive it.

thanks, it usually revs around 15000rpm and drops down, but sometimes it revs at 15000rpm and keeps going up to 2krpm-2.5krpm and then it starts drop down and go up real fast over and over.. i had to shut the engine cuz i thought its acting freaky. any idea whats causing this?

oh and it only does that when at P... when i drives off into D4 or D3, i noticed the engine revs at about 11-12krpm when i step on the break to a stop, instead of dropping down to 6k-7k in a stopped position as it usually does.

this is the same problem....air in the coolant system....when you start the car you are getting coolant and air alternatively going past the temp sensor, they have a different temp, so the sensor keeps sending a changing signal to the ECU which sends a message to the idle control circuit to change the idle speed....so it revs up and down rapidly.......get the air out and all your problems will go away.....lol
