my bose headunit has been giving off this very loud annoying static sound i read up on all the old threads and seemed to have found the fix BUT i am wondering if i get a aftermarket unit like a double din video system would the static still be there ?

first what model of legend oyu have? L, LS,GS,SE,Base? second does it make static noise when the volume being turn all the way down? I have one OEM sit in my living room now if you want to buy it just pm me.
^^^ not yet because I used had the same problem and after the amp by pass it still make that dam noise.
It depends which model you have: if you have an external amplifier (see the FAQs either here or in the audio section: one of them outlines the various stereo configurations) than the problem may not reside in your head unit.
I had the same problem when I 1st bought mine. I have the LS and it was the headunit itself. I tried to change the amp and all. In the end, I called a stereo shop and they suggested trying a used OEM headunit. Been working great ever since.
