I took my Legend to inspection and was told the Right inner and Left outer tie rods had some plays. So I replaced them - thanks to pnoye2's DIY write-up - and the Legend passed inspection. But now the steering is slightly harder to the LEFT than the RIGHT and when I accelerate with the steering wheel being free, instead of turning straight like it used to, the steering wheel veered to the RIGHT about 20 degrees. Any insights into this will be appreciated.

go straight!

Hi,

1)check tire pressures.
2) did you get the alignment done? If so then it ain't right, if not read on.

Toe in is adjusted by threading in the tie rod ends. "Tape measure toe in" is how I do my own cars, I will tell the tale if requested.

inner vs outer tie rods

pnoye2: PM sent.

Jay P: the alignment was done. Still tell me about the "toe in" anyways. I want to learn.

you think I should have replaced the entire tie-rod sets, i.e. both inner and outer? Which one usually fails more quickly, inner or outer?

I'd agree with the alignment NOT done properly, I'm suspecting they (shop) adjusted the radius rod(s) instead of them tie-rod ends... on tape measure toe in; I too uses this method

If you have the funds for the whole set then YES I'd recommend replacing all of them <=but your mechanic will NOT tell you this; catch my drift :D ...tie-rod ends wear out faster.

Between Jay and I, we can prolly resolve your alignment issues. I'll PM you some more details!
