still good things to come.... new pics are nice... just can't wait to see it done!!!...

kyle i was actually wondering cause i never knew what size tubine you running... but i guess? it's to big... why don't you run a smaller one? wouldn't that help on the spool time?

just curious.. i would email you this but i was on here first hahahhahha...
Wil,
I have the smaller T4. It is pretty big, but when I was reading up on large turbines I liked the idea. They produce less heat and give more top end power-which is where we race. Spool time would improve with a smaller turbine but it would lack top end. My cure for getting off the line will be a LSD and a 3000 stall speed tq converter.

CU and Aztec- got toy updates. Everyone should have them up to now.
Thanks, kyle

You already know that Kyle lives in Colorado.
Besides, his custom turbo must be tuned to perfection,
unlike the slew of dime-a-dozen, bolt-on turbo kits for a SC.
haha you know I was just kidding, however, im pretty sure you're aware that my kit wasnt a bolt on, but it was actually custom fabricated for my specific power goals.

Thank you Keith! Thank is exactly what I am saying. It does need work, but I had to start somewhere.
Although people are flaming you, I can see why they are. It makes sense if you're willing to spend that much time and effort into something that has never been done; then you should have done it right the first time instead of going through the a sloppy messy and trying to get it done again and again. And it doesnt take much to dyno tune either- about $300 which im sure you can afford.

I still don't understand why you went with a big turbo either, if the manifolds/piping/ etc etc are restricted then you should have went with a turbo that would utlize that kind of power; such as a T3 flanged TE44.

sr79labrat said:
Why? What are you running? Maybe bring that thing to the next big meet and we can get down.
I think that may be my next car, but the 400.
Kyle
Because I would be honored to race against the first Turbo Legend :)
And yes, I will be attending the next big meet sometime in the near future.

Powerhouse Racing Equal-lenght manifold
Powerhouse Racing Map-ECU
PT61 Precision Turbo
These are my base mods

BTW avoid the 400, its junk ;)
I would like to get the updated emails as well if possible: idrewfelix@hotmail.com

Yes, I have the money to do it right. No, it was not done right the first time. I was cheated by the shop that took my car. I based my decision off of the fact that they hade made their own car....which I hear from another source that they did not do the work themselves. I will do the tune when I can get the rest of the work done first.

Once again the shop made the decision to buy that turbo although I told them I thought it was was to big for what I wanted. After all, they were the "turbo specialist". Now there are no restrictions and I fully spool that bad boy in first. It is not bad not that there is a decent design to feed the beast.

I will be curious to race your car...how many psi are you running? With what compression ratio? Are you auto also?

Why is the 400 crap? I know there is limited aftermarket, but you can see the patern here.

Thx, Kyle

Did any 1 get the update?

k

update...? i guess.

By the way...i have a hard on everytime i think of your car now.

Idrewfelix,

I work at lexus right now and i have seen some nice SC300-400...i was thinking of changing the headlights/bumper and taillights. ANd after seeing that vid of one running a 10 sec quarter....sweet. And no, i have not driven a stick yet.

sorry for the hijack.

You mean to say that the kit was choosen to meet your specific power goals.
Unlike Kyle, your maifold, ECU, etc., were bolt-on parts designed for a SC--not "custom fabricated" per your original claim.

Got it. Thanks. I think Keith said it best so far. Good luck with things.

True, but to make the manifold fit my specific turbo and make clearance for the downpipe took much fabrication. The T4 flange also had to be custom fabricated to clear the distributor. To use the Turbonetics racegate the flange had to be swapped and the external wastegate piping had to be redesigned.

ECU either way has to be "bolt on". Im sure Kyle's shop didnt redesign a chip to mod his car, he probably used a piggy back to adjust his afr's.

There are aftermarket taillights and three years of different generations of taillights you can choose. I have the 2nd gen tail lights that are tinted out.

And the fastest SC to speed is Chris who broke into 9.59@144mph with an incredible 1.36 - 60ft on a STOCK SHORTBLOCK.

Thats good to hear you have the proper supporting mods to spool that thing. :p

Im currently running street 12 psi, and yes I am an automatic. On race, I boost 1 bar. My CR is 9.2:1.

There two people that I know that have twin turbo SC400's. The problem is it is VERY costly to do it. In the $9000 range from what I was told.

And I didn't get the update!

Is it at all possible to post those pictures of the turbo engine bay again? It may just be my computer but I cant see them on the site anymore.......I want to see those very badly! Thanks to whoever in advance!

Richard,

To be blunt- I am tired of being flamed, and all of the negative remarks that go along with posting here. When I make a thread or a post about what I want to do....I get flamed 90% of the time. I am not saying that I am perfect, but that by doing e-mail updates I have had 100% positive feedback. I feel like I am trying to bring something of substance to the Legend owners that they do not have. Yes, I have wild ideas. Yes, I do intend to follow through with every single one of them. If the more active members want updates they can have them e-mailed to them like everyone else. I am not opposed to any one posting my updates, but I refuse to respond to negative remarks. I like e-mail because in a way it weeds out people that just want to say something to say it. In the near future there will be a website that I will carry this forward to. You are added to the list, and I will send you the last update with pics.

THanks, Kyle
Interesting, however I dont really ever get flamed, cant be that much difference between you and I, except maybe approch......

My Nitrous Legend VS your Turbo, I'd be down for a best out of 3 Legal Drag.

One reason of many is that there is a crew of people ready
to verbally beat on anybody who pokes fun at you.
Kyle is relatively new.

You might track faster, but NOS isn't always available at the press of the accelerator.

I believe you would walk him, considering getting a underfunded FWD turbo car with tons of traction problems to go against your LSD equiped 5 speed.

TRu, however he has produced a kit that does produce, yet people still harrass him. Like i said before it must be the approch...

TRu, Nitrous isnt always there, but we are talking drag race where everyone brings their best A game. Besides last time i checked my first gen 3.5 hybrid N/A Legend made more usable HP and TQ where it counted than his first gen turbo setup. Not knocking tubros or SC's i'd have one if i didnt have to explain to the officer what it was.

Hey guys,

Looks like it has been a busy day on here so far. Looks like it has all be productive to the thread.

Yea, I am down to race anyone at the next meet for best time and most consistent times. Then we can autocross also. DV8 will take me as is on the drag strip, but if I have the time to get my other mods done we will see.

Is anyone able to post my pics from the update that I sent out? I am willing to have those posted if we can all get along.

THanks for keeping it cool!
Kyle

I would also greatly apprectiate some help with my sig. Putting a pic of two in it.

I got the e-mail update!!! The turbo set-up looks awesome! I may have to go change my pants after seeing those pics! Keep up the great work Kyle. I know everyone says it, but i just wanted to say it again..... we want numbers! I understand the car is not complete yet, but when it gets there...

Kyle,
I noticed that the turbine is mounted within close proximity to the power steering reservoir.
How long will the power steering reservoir withstand that much heat?
One of your pictures possibly shows signs of the plastic reservoir melting.
Can you verify?
