i think thats the problem, thats its the stock chip, and its doing this.

use a DMM or DSO test the voltage input for the tach. The tach only display's the info its given.

you could also check the RMPs in otherway, for some reason, i can recall how its done.

no guys...

it was rechipped. this is my best friend up in wisconsin. I helped install a chip made specifically to his car...and it started doing this(he found out by accident). The only thing that perhaps is the cause it that the chip was installed in a type 2 auto ECU HOWEVER it did not have TCS. His does have TCS HOWEVER even though it doesn't work and even when he turns it OFF it still does it.....so whats up? he is just curious.

well i am playing dumb.... and seriously...i have as much a clue as you do as to WHY it is doing this. Next week we are putting his stock ECU back in so i can look at the chip etc.

but intriguing that there was 65 views and no one else has any advice. o well.

his motor is okay. and the car is parked till i can work on it. gotta put in a new radiator and flush it.

nick just came up with his other car to get his stock ECU and i had a crazy idea....i am going to throw his with the chip in my car.. I dont have TCS and I have a manual.

Right now i am running one of the old telion chips in an automatic ECU. SO no real difference when you think about it. Plus my type 1 just wont blow up!:commie_ba

update

threw nick's ECU in my car and took him for a spin. WE figured i dont really need the type 1 much longer so we did some tests....

I hit the fuel cutoff at 7grand(7200) in 3rd gear past 100mph or so...

we threw it in nuetral while still crusing ...hit it again.

His ECU and chip are for type 2 and mine is type 1 so up top it was not sound good and since then my motor has not been doing well.

AT any rate this proves a few things........................

Either because his car has TCS and by hooking up the blue automatic section it does something and eliminates the fuel cutoff/rev limiter

OR there is something else wrong electronically that coincided with the installtion of new ecu and chip.

WARNING:

There is an unresolved issue if you install and automatic ECU WITHOUT TCS with a chip...........into an auto with TCS. Everything else is the same.

I sacrificed my motor to prove this and my friend risk his also.

If you do the above you will not have a revlimiter/fuel cutoff.!!!!!!!!
