my car heat up..
I changed the radiator (which was clogged), all cooling sensors, fans working fine..bled out system about 4x, but everytime after about 20min. of driving I hit a hill to see if it heats up and it does.
I took out the thermostat and trimmed down the inner mechanism (the one that opens and shuts) and it doesn't overheat anymore. what's up? is my water pump....

and how come it doesn't over heat after I did this to the thermostat.. is it beacause of less pressure...

this moerning while driving to work.. the needle went to cold... and then back to normal....

hate to think that I have a HG problem just bought this 1992 motor in August 2002. My other motor blew with 100,000 miles on it...

thanks...

Sounds like HG, have it checked out.

its a 1991 L Sedan with105,000k when my gasket went on it and I replaced it with a 1992 motor. I did replace the thermostat with acura one and it still overheated. I took it back thinking it was damaged aand bought an aftermarket one and it still overheated...but with the core out it doesn't, wassup?
I bled the system about 3 to 4x's to no avail after about 20 to 25min it got hot again...especially after climbing a hill...
got a new metal radiator, all applicable sensors...it still overheats with new thermostat until I took out core...any ideas whats going on?..
is it because theres less air pressure?
will quick fix eventually backfire?

remove the upper radiator hose from the radiator, run a garden hose to the radiator so that the engine will continue to get a supply of coolant ( water in this case ). Run the engine with the cored thermostat and then do it again with a new thermostat. You will have to wait for the engine to warm up before the new stat opens and allow water flow out of the upper hose. Check water flow with both versions. If there is a significant decrease in flow with the new thermostat as compared to the cored out one a probable cause is your water pump's impeller blades are " loose " and can not build enough pressure to overcome the thermostate restriction. Never seen it happen on Legends but BMW inline 6 engines have this problem all the time, they have plastic blades connected to a steel rod. If your water pump checks out ok.... I really don't know other then possible HG..

luck
