Backyard mechanic since early 1970s. Received A.S. Applied Science (Autobody) in my 30s and worked in the field for almost 10 yrs primarily repairing Asian autos.. Got smart and decided I'd rather get paid by using what litte intellect I possess and earned grad. degree in Social Work Administration. Been in Soc Wrk last 12 yrs.

 

Bolt on replacement kind of guy. Had a '68 4-door Nova. RIP. Anyway, I have worked many jobs and fields. Selling perfume in parking lots, truck driver in U.S. Army to my current field and love. Network/System Administration. Bought my first computer in 2001 was going to school for it 4 months later.

 

ASE Certified tech, 28 years old. I learned a lot about car repair between 2000 and 2002. I now run a transmission repair/rebuild facility and I'm learning how to rebuild automatic transmission in my spare time.

I've done 10 Legend head gaskets, countless Legend timing belts and water pumps, quite a few oddball engine swaps (including my 3.5), auto to manual swaps, and I'm about to get real serious with this shop I'm building right now.

 

Telecommunications analyst, 52 years old, grew up working on big block Chevys. Raced 3 years in SCCA GT-2 with a friend & his 300ZX and learned a lot about Asian auto technology. I'll attempt most anything as long as I have the shop space, tools & time. Particularly the tools.

I'm a 22 year old Simulation Engineer with a BA in Computer Science from a school full of engineers (you adopt their twisted mindset after a while).

I just fiddle with my car in my spare time and I've read and learned a lot on this forum.

22 years old. currently i have 2 semesters left b4 completing my Automotive technology program, which i'll get a Associate in Applied Science degree. Right now i'm trying to get a job in the flied. Later I want to get into Automotive Engineering.

 

well me myself im just a college student that live on my own, im a security guard too. i know nothing about cars, but if i had the tools and space to take one apart i bet i would learn alot.oh and im 20.

 

Im a security guard too... Shittiest job on the planet, I didn't realize how lazy of a job security is.

Im 18, sort of mechanically inclined.. Ive installed HID headlights, intakes, did work on my car's door panel... Just small stuff like that, I'm not ready for the big stuff like swaps yet.. Just dont trust me on doing antenna masts lol, a first grader can do a better job than me... Out of anger I cut off the white cord and just jammed the mast in the hole to make it look like there is a retractable antenna in there.

 

I waiter to pay for the gas and JDM parts while going to college.

37 yrs. old. I'm a Manufacturing Planner. (easy job).

Been tinkering with cars since I was a teen. Never got into full blown mechanics.....was more into visual mods and installing sound systems and tinting windows but I can change an alternator or radiator (easy stuff) if I have to.

Been in car clubs since the first day I got my car (16 yrs old).

Graduated from Devry Institute of Technology with my Electronics Degree. Did some technical work up until about 8 years when I took a position to be an Electronics Buyer for the company I was working for. That led into my current job.

In retrospect, as much as I love cars, I should have gone to an Automotive School like ITT or something.

 

Im 21, My new job is a IT District Manager at 3 hospitals in shanghai china, Starts Next February, will have to move Im a full time student at college, working on a computer science degree. I have my CompTIA A+ and Microsoft certified certificate's, Got those at my Current work which is CompUSA
Got my legend at 16. (my first car) Learned alot from this forum, and starting tweaking around. Took a course in automotive maintenance and repair at College of Marin. Learned alot from that too. Other than that i just pickup info from this forum then apply it by doing such.

 

I wanted to be an engineer, but parents wanted me to go to med school. Did an undergrad in Biochemistry & Genetic Engineering with the intent to go for med school but lost interest halfway so got a second degree in Economics. Now doing an MBA in Finance and Accounting while working in investment banking. I'm more of a casual driveway mechanic, most I've ever done is change brake pads. I'm 27 BTW.

 

I am not a mechanic but a do it yourselfer. I worked on many tupes of cars and projects with my Dad and have learned a lot from the ole' man. Been into cars my whole life and lean as I go and learn from others. Jack of all trades master of none basically. lol

I am 22, not a real mechanic, a 3rd grade teacher intern almost done with my degree and a part time supervisor at a quick lube.( pays for tution untill I complete my degree and get a job as an educator)

i'm sort of a bolt on, plug & play person, i wont tackle a job that i really don't think i can handle. i was lucky enough to inherit a "95 Toyota Camry as my first car, that required nothing more than regular maintenance so i really never had to get a mechanical with it. But with the Legend I'm learning more and more because of the DIY's in the forum

I'm 26, been on living on my own since i was 19 and I'm a Substance Abuse Counselor for MICA clients, been doing that for about 4 years now. I went to school for Business Administration and went completely left. I'll be going for my CPRP certification sometime next year. I've pretty much worked the gambit of the Social Service field from mental health, developmental disabilities, early childhood intervention, vocational training, education/employment, benefits/entitlements. Eventually I would like to get into either network administration, real estate, or maybe start my own small business.

 

32 year old teacher...I'd rather be working on cars though, which is why there is almost ALWAYS a car in my shop. Thank God I have friends that don't take care of their cars!!!

I just like too mess around with cars my first car was a Fiat Spider so I know quite a bit about fixing that lol, i'm 17 going to community college getting 2yr engineering degree then moving on to mechanical engineering !!!

 

I'm a 21 year old bartender going to school for business. I don't really know a lot about cars, but I know a lot of people who do and they are always willing to help and educate me.

 

18yo full time Student at Virginia Western, Full time Employee at Target, and Part-time Graphic Designer.

As for maintainance and such on my cars i do everything i can without specalty equipment and air tools, so SPark plugs,fluid changes, fuses, hoses, brakes, exc...

 

42 yr old Lead Aviation Tech for Fedex, 15 yrs. 20 yrs in aviation maintenance. I rebuilt my first car engine when I was 14, chevy 327, and have been maintaining and repairing my own cars since. I've done 2 headgasket jobs on my Legends and been into most every other system. I'm not much into the mods. I think modding the Legend only takes away from it.
It's just my opinion, It's your Legend, go for it.
One day I'll make enough money to pay someone to fix my car. Until then I just enjoy repairing my junk. I also repair electrical stuff like Tv's and appliances. This year I impressed myself by repairing my Toshiba big screen. It was quite a challenge but I finally got it.

I'm 22, and a nurse. I really enjoy learning about my legend- but I usually wait until something goes wrong to learn.

 

my mechanical experience goes as far as simple diy's on this fourm and whatever i can fix with either duck tape or crazy glue (both at full suply in my trunk). i'm 18

 

35, manager at a gift and engraving store. Before that job I worked in watches and clocks for 10 years. Before that I was in home electronics. All of the jobs required some technical skill. I can do minor watch repair, set up home audio/video equipment, engraving with a CNC engraving machine, and build computers. I also got my MCT for Windows server and workstation a few years ago.

Up until now I have had very limited ability to work on my own car as I live in an apartment and have limited tools. I am in escrow on my first home purchase so I hope to put a lot more of my "head" knowledge to use in a practical way with the cars in the future.

I have a very good mechanic and after almost 20 years with one Honda or another, 3 replaced engines, and 2 replaced clutches I have gotten pretty good at diagnosis on car repairs. My mechanic is also friendly enough to anwer my questions and show me stuff on the car when i ask.

If I could I would be a service writer for car repairs. I used to basically write service orders for watches and clocks and I was pretty good at it.
