First I apologize for the serious teaser and putting up pics of a project without results and dyno's because there are none. And who knows how long it could be before I go any further it could be a year or more! I just love hearing the ideas suggestions, feedback and knowlege you all have to offer. Isn't that a bulk of what we are here for? :) Well as many of you know I am currently underway with the Supercharger setup. It has been a very slow process but is still underway and the manifold for it is now being welded from what I understand.

I could not get over how much I loved Hotlava's tt setup and it overcame me. So I figured at some point in the future I also wanted to do a tt setup and began slowly buying the additional pieces it would take to do so (being that many are the same, such as injectors, fuel pump monitoring gauges and what not). Then last week my car decide to get some garage time (it broke down later found to be a broken axle, Ebay? I think it was tsk tsk). But none the less it was a perfect excuse to play while she was down so I started to look at how I would eventually want my tt to be setup. What better way than to play. It helps kill concepts that look good in your head given the (not so) workable space; a few of my ideas have since died. But long story short this is where I am at so far. Now that my wife knows that it is just a broken axle I only have shipping time to continue playing before having to put her back together again.

A couple quick notes

-No this will not be done/completed for a very very long time.-This is very new to me so I would be the last to ask for suggestions though I love to share ideas.
-Yes the supercharger project is still underway and taking precedence over this.

-No I did not wake up one morning and say I am going to do a Legend Twin turbo setup during breakfast (sorry Hybird, that just kills me lol)
-No I am not going to be using PVC intercooler piping it is just cheaper to hack away at till I figure how I am going to do it when the time comes.
-I have also read up on some articles of Twin vs. Single and each seem to have there advantages from knowlegable members of their respective forums.
-cheap clamps will be replaced with t-clamps.

Ok the book is done here's the pics. (excuse the mess my garage is at war)
also please forgive the ugly "stand in" mesh and terrible paint, looks will come last. I don't want to tear it up after doing body work and paint.

This one concerns me, there is not much rook and there is a damn brake fluid line that may need to be relocated. wires and hoses I don't mind moving brake, AC, and power steering lines I am not so happy/experinced with.

Hopefully at some point I will be done destroying my car and be able to build it up like the one in my head lol.

-Tip- If you get a new intercooler or radiator, cover the fins with cardboard until it is fully installed so you don't damage the fins during installation :hide:

PS. The purple finish and and nice shiney engine bay will be back in time. it was too hard to maintain and not scratch to hell while getting a bug of some sort and doing stuff like ^ this. I think eventually I will powdercoat vs. paint though.

Can you paint the intake to turbo and intercooler to engine piping the same purple? I feel like that would really tie it all together nice. maybe someone can photoshop it. Also the purple tubing looks better if you cut off the ends of the zip ties:bigok:

Thanks lol, I have purple zip ties but I also have a feeling that minor adjustments will be made so I don't want to use them. Sorry reboticon and deathred I won't be painting the intake or anything else purple I have achieved a satisfying level of purple balance at this point and it will be staying on for the dynos and vids :D

This thread is us coming together as a family and building my car :)

You do the same ;)

Not sure how or why I overlooked this until now but I figured I would share.

If you look really close at the diagram it gets air from the breather valve and routes it according ly with a plunger that is hot coolant activated that comes from the drivers side head. Lol I actually already had it blocked off because I never switched where it connects to the head over from my TI head. What I am going to do though is leave that part that it connects to on the TII head so I can use that as a T-off line for the drivers side turbo coolant line. I already T'd off the passenger side.

For those that may not know here is a pic of what I am referring to
Rear water outlet that is circled in red

Yeah alot of turbos are both water (coolant) and oil cooled. I won't be hooking up the coolant side for a while though.

Well about an hour ago while making the final preparations to fire it for the first time I encountered a defining moment one that will certainly prolong the time before my car will be done for who knows how long now.

I always hand turn the crank before firing it up after a in depth build in case there is or was something I had missed and while doing so it locked. I never pulled the timing belt off this time so it is very possible that whatever happened to the tranny was a result of something that happened first to the engine. I am not sure if I am going to tear it down and rebuild as is or go ahead and hold out till I can get the heads and TII manifold redone. I do know though that she will be down for quite some time. I will finish the build though so there is less work to do once I put it back together :( and here I thought tonight was going to be the night that I would get to fire it up for the first time in 6 months. Well I am going to bed.

Did you make sure the trannys output shaft is connected to the diff carrier all the way?

I had thought that I had but you did give me an idea I am going to disengage it and see if I can free turn the crank as part of the trouble shooting before tearing it down. Keep the ideas coming so far I am going to

remove the intake manifold and plugs to see if there is anything dropped into one of the piston chambers,

check to see if something is locking up my alternator

disengage the tranny from the diff

then attempt to verify timing is still on (doing that last because there is no reason for it not to be.

Anything else reasonable that people come up with I am going to take a couple days off this weekend incase a teardown and rebuild is in order.

Crank locks as if timing is off and a piston is hitting a valve.

Ok I pulled everything off the face side of the engine and I can only get 2/3's rotation so I can't get enough of a turn to line up the timing marks but they were on before and I was so pleased with it so I don't want to remove the belt and before I remember something similar happening and it was not timing does anyone remember?

I did take the valve covers off to switch and paint them so though the likelihood is rare it is possible that something is preventing the cam from rotating I will check that before timing.

Ok I verified the timing by marking it off removing it lining it back up and putting the belt back on and it was spot on. In this process I also hand turned the passenger side cam gear and it is locking up at a certain point so the problem is definitely on the passenger side head. But just in case I also disengaged the drive shaft on the tranny to be sure and all yielded the same result, which is everything locking at exactly a half rotation of the cam gear (noticed this off my taped on markings going from TDC to locking at BDC)

Looks like the heads will be coming off sooner than I thought. :(

Anybody know a good Cosmetic head gasket thickness to decrease compression while I am at it?

I removed the the valve cover

Gawd damn monkey nuts!!! Can't believe it locked up!!! I hope nothing broke when trying to start it (knock on wood).
