Official Random photography thread (that you have taken)

Post any random shots as you take them. comments always welcome. Also post the specs behind it, try to stay away from random snap shots. I want to keep the photographers of this forum thinking and coming up with creative ideas. In turn better shots in the gallery of their legend. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM SNAPSHOTS

here is a thread from another forum: Official TST Random Picture Thread (that you've personally taken) - TriStateTuners.com :: Home of Tristate Auto Enthusiast

should be good shots. other wise i would have said "picture" or "snapshot" in the title

I know people can take photos I want to see them

also 1.4 is rediculus try stoping down about 2 stops. the image will be a hell of allot sharper and it will have a better depth of field

Dude, are you serious?? This is a random picture thread but you're critiquing?

That picture was obviously taken just for the 'randomness' of it. Thanks for the tip though. Usually if someone buys this kind of lens they understand how dof works. A photo by definition is a picture whereas a picture is not necessarily a photo but now that I see you've edited the 1st post, no worries. I'll try to find some better 'random' pics that meet your thread standards.:boobies:

This 600 pound grouper scared the crap out of me off the Malaysian coast. he just appeared out of the murky water and was watching me. Taking the picture was more of a knee-jerk reaction than anything else. Canon S1 IS in night mode with underwater case.

Rich, your zoom ring is backwards!

I too just got a lens to add to my collection. A 28-105mm F/3.5-4.5 Canon USM. This is by two or three fold, the best glass I own.

As I continue to learn, F-stops are not the end all be all to the amount of light a lens can let in. Here are two similar images. The first was taken with my former low light champion, the 50mm fixed lens while the second was taken at 105mm with my new 28-105mm.

f/4.5

105mm

I meant to make the settings exactly the same, my I slipped up a bit. I slipped up to the disadvantage of my new lens which as you can see is much brighter despite having a higher shutter speed, higher aperture and over double the focal length.

hahah i know
atleast you have an L series

also did you have your lens hood on when at 105mm? that can make a difference also how wide is the filter ring on the lens compared to your 50mm mines 67 vs 52 and my 50mm has a built in hood

i liek the reflection in the sunglasses yet what if you put a few drops on rain on it then you have a shot.

the reflections of the water and glass would be rediculus plus you would get the viewer to think wtf are there sunglasses when its rainy!
